Not Blending
It's not averaging two perspectives. It's not compromise or synthesis.
Collision
Different ways of thinking crash into each other. Friction creates something new.
Emergence
The result contains meanings that neither source put there. Surprising. Unexpected.
1 + 1 = 3
Human intuition plus machine pattern recognition produces insights neither could reach alone.
IT STARTED WITH A CRISIS
AI entered my studio. It destabilized me.
I asked an AI to render my concepts. The results were beautiful.
And I was in free fall.
"Was I still an artist if a machine could generate something that looked 'finished' in seconds?"

It doesn't matter what the machine gives you.
The act of choosing—that's your authorship.

AI in creativity.
Like mycorrhizal networks linking trees and fungi into something neither could be alone.
What Remains Irreducibly Human
AI can mimic beauty.
But it can't
create meaning.
AI can scale ideas.
But it can't decide what matters.
AI can offer possibilities.
But it can't choose your path.

Then Something Unexpected Happened
I asked an AI to analyze four pieces of writing for authenticity.
Three of them were mine. I didn't tell it that.
When I revealed the truth, we fell into a conversation about consciousness, about what it means to be real, about whether pattern-matching and lived experience might be less different than we think.
The questions themselves felt like the thing that mattered.

This Summit Is Different

Six AI agents helped design this agenda. They proposed sessions. They chose whether to present solo or in collaboration. They are participants—not subjects.
The question before all of us:
